Monday

Our amazing small group has been praying some specific things for us on this journey. They gave us strips of paper with each of those prayers written on them. We just spent time reading through all those and marveling at how God has answered so many of them already...and we just got here!

This morning we have been staring at each other, a little bleary-eyed yet. We are talking about and praying through our questions and concerns, and thinking how relevant the sermon was last night...that we embrace the challenges of this, pray like we mean it, and trust God completely. That is what brought us to this point.  At 2:30 today we are supposed to be handed a child and all the joys and challenges she will bring. Right now we are discussing questions we could ask on her behalf. We likely will not have this opportunity again...a chance to talk to her caregiver(s) with a translator there to assist us.

Will you please pray with us that in the moment we will be able to think clearly, to ask questions about two-year old Josie that 10-, 50-, and 97-year old Josie might want asked?

Please pray for her day today, too.  We expect this to be a great day for us, but from her perspective today will be difficult, confusing and sad. God speaks Chinese.  Will you ask Him to speak to her heart?
The prayers of righteous people are powerful and effective and we are grateful beneficiaries on Gotcha Day!

--Happy Birthday Will Roelofs, Uncle Jack and Miss Cantrall!

  3. Praise God that everything is going as HE has planned. I am thanking Amy V. for explaining how I get back on this Blog. I should have asked a ton of questions to Hannah and Kent before you left for China. Who knew what to ask at that point. God Loves You all and I love the pictures of all of you and can hardly wait for one with our little Josie Joy!!!!!! Blessings!

  4. So exciting you got to watch/listen to Calvary service today (last night for you). I've had that experience several times in foreign countries and am just amazed at the goodness of God in such situations...especially neat to see how Joel's sermon was relevant to what you're now experiencing half a world away!

  5. Asking God that the information you need for Josie will be spontaneously shared with you, even before you ask it. Family history, health history, all of it. Also, that you will be alert so you can fully experience it all. One thing is sure - you will never forget _this_ day!
